"I truly can't recall what sparked the dolls.  I loved them for their sheer creepiness, but there was something deeper at work.  First, you have to think about these vintage dolls and their journey over the decades and about the children that played with them so long ago, the stories.  You'll find a thematic element throughout these works, the dolls' macabre prosthetics made of hardware and rusted pieces of tools, their legs replaced with wheels and chair spindles.   Why?  It made sense...these were broken toys with sad endings, so their repairs needed to feel desperately deranged."
